THE PROJECT
Homey Feelings has had an impact on hundreds of homeless people in the Atlanta area.
HISTORY OF THE PROJECT
The idea for Homey Feelings started back in 2016. Founder and primary backer, Shon Hoberg, disliked how people were treating and responding to a homeless man in Atlanta. Upon seeing other teenagers disrespecting the homeless man, Shon treated the man to dinner and came up with a plan.

After helping this first man, Shon immediately started looking into available charities to throw his efforts towards. He found himself disappointed with the options and decided to focus on reintegration. He began developing a path that he believed would accelerate people willing to work back into society.

The original path was developed over the course of 2017, and it focused on extreme effort on Shon's part. It involved his heavy investment and contribution to provide opportunities for homeless people. Shon arranged housing and allowances for select individuals who agreed to the rules required for support. The process took place over 3 week periods and required extreme activism on behalf of all parties. While the system worked, it was extremely taxing and lacked sustainability for the long term. The major issue was the lack of proper government documents.

Over the course of 2018, Shon worked to revise the system and plan. Additionally, he worked to get proper paperwork, but he found paying for the process was strenuous. Upon arriving to college, Shon was met with an interesting opportunity. He looked to partner his charity with a church.

At the end of 2019, Shon reached out to several churches and believed he set up a long term solution. He developed a youth works group that focused on collection and distribution of gear. However, COVID quickly put an end to this idea.
As COVID vaccines started releasing, Shon started looking for smaller scale projects to restart the entire charity process.
